So, it's Turkey Day. Which means football. And I have one thing to say in regards to that... GO PACK GO! My boys played very well today, I'm quite proud! Will definitely be missing Al Harris :( Get some rest and let that knee injury get better! Congrats to the AMAZING Mr. Donald Driver for winning the Galloping Gobbler trophy for today's game! A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers) and Charles Woodson were also contestants as they played WONDERFULLY and made some AWESOME plays in the win against Detroit. Love my boys ♥♥

Would also like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, Happy Free-Day-Off-of-Work! Kick back, relax, eat some goodies and maybe watch a movie or two ;D Always a good way to relax!

Get to run errands for my mother this morning... oh the joys of living at home :( But hey, at least it's semi-free to still live here! Had a relatively good weekend, got to hang out at Kools a bit which is always fun.

And.. mom's calling me so I'll be back to finish this after running around the city!

So upon first viewing of New Moon, it was epically awesome. There were lots of scenes with a shirtless¡Jacob (Taylor Lautner [<<<<clicky!], if anyone wasn't aware) and that made me a VERY happy fangirl. More decisions will be made upon further viewings. Many further viewings :D Was quite disappointed, though, that they didn't throw in the 'blasphemy' line that Edward says. It's one of my favorites. So, unless that's considered a spoiler, sorry for spoiling it for you! Mike made me giggle, as did Emmett and Jasper. Alice was adorable, as usual, and Esme and Carlisle: could they GET any cuter? Such an adorable couple. Charlie was pretty awesome as well.
season 5

Am sad that I have to wait until January 21 for Supernatural to come back on. *le sigh* It's epic sadness in my world. Leverage should also be returning around that time... but I want it to come faster. Although, at least one of my shows starts again in December! *g* Dog: The Bounty Hunter starts up again in about two weeks so yay!

*le sigh*

Wow... it's been a long three weeks. Basically got kicked out of school because the guy in 'office of student success' is a dick. Office of student success, my ass. Apparently I was failing all three classes and there was no way I'd be able to raise any of my grades up to a passing grade by the end of semester. Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence.

Good god... that was a terrible call. Sorry, watching the Badger game at the same time I'm writing *grins sheepishly*

Halloween was pretty fun. I went out to Old Mill with my parents since my cousins were going to be there. I got to wear my costume and I got to use massive amounts of spray glitter, which was good fun. Although it didn't come out of my hair for three days... even with multiple showers :) Anywho... my crazy cousins dressed up as Elvis and Priscilla Presley. My older cousin was Elvis and the younger one... was wow. He had this dress on that reminded me of Minnie Mouse, a black wig, make--up (with eye liner and everything), fishnet stockings and high heels. I have a picture and I'd love to post it at some point but I have yet to figure out to get it off my phone and onto my computer.

Went to GB yesterday to check out the school there. I quite liked it, fairly small campus and all the education buildings are connected so when it's winter and the crazy weather is going on I don't have to wander about outside too much. Unfortunately, the dorms and food buildings are NOT connected... which means freezing in order to get food.

Am currently not feeling well, which sucks because I've been doing so good. Might have pink eye, which sucks even more. Ooh, also? Cut my leg with a chainsaw on Wednesday. Not the actual cutting part, but there's this metal plate by the end of the blade that's got these pointy things on it that you use to steady the saw on whatever it is you're cutting? Yeah, was jumping off the back of the tailgate with it and it hit my leg when I landed. Three nice cuts in my leg and a giant bruise there as well. It's lovely. Um, got to go to Kools last night (the local 'community center' as my dad calls it, it's a bar) and played pool with my sister and parents. 'Twas good fun.

Also, since I haven't been on here in a while, there is something I need to take care of before I leave this for today. November 12 was the birthday of two AWESOME people and though I don't converse with anyone on here enough to really have the right call them 'friend', they ARE awesome so [info]lieutenantwitch and [info]veronamay : HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to you, girls!

um.... so i 'borrowed' this from [info]dark_princess17 , who is completely awesome by the way, and here it is:

"This is Entertainment Weekly's Top 100 movies of the last 25 years list (up until 2008).
Bold the ones you have seen
Put an asterisk (*) after the movie title* if you really liked it.
Cross it out if you saw a film and really disliked it
Underline the ones you own

movies this way! )

...though I'm surprised at some of these on this list - the ones that I have absolutely no desire to ever see, mainly 'cause they strike me as completely stupid.

But, oh well, I guess people like 'em. --Megan

Totally with you on that one, hun!  I mean, really?  SOUTH PARK?  Come on, that's just a little ridiculous.  Okay, it's really ridiculous.  Although it is Entertainment Weekly so who knows what they were thinking when they came up with this one.  Oh well...

Off to finish watching an AWESOME show that I just got addicted to.... LEVERAGE!

sooo......

yeah, going to Yell Like Hell for homecoming? probably not the smartest idea. my throat hurts even more. 'twas fun, though, which is what counts. our game is tonight, and i was planning on going but since i'm sick and smarter than i was last night i decided i probably shouldn't go. *pouts* i want to... as i've yet to see one of our games. which is kind of sad, but we haven't really been going the greatest but hopefully we'll win tonight against Illinois College. GO PIO

(and yes, sadly enough, our school colors/symbol are the same as the chicago bears.  those copy-cating bastards...)

(funny story, actually...) )
i snagged this from [info]dark_princess17 and i decided that this also looked like fun so without further ado...

sooo.....

i don't feel good.  at all.  and i was doing so good at not getting sick, too.  and then one of my suite-mates had strep last week.  and i don't know what i have but my throat hurts and is sore and i keep getting sinus headaches and ugh..... ick.  no me gusta.  and erin isn't coming this weekend, so sad face :(  she's got exams at mad-town next week so she's studying.

but i do get to go home next weekend.  yay!  as long as it doesn't turn out to be like last weekend, when i had a hardcore emotional breakdown (which for me consists of crying and isolating myself for a few hours) it should be okay.  i'm going back to the high school, visit my teachers and just reminisce.

yeah, i must be getting sick because i'm freezing right now in my room, usually i'm dying from the heat.  so, off to fine my big, comfy hoodie and then curl up on my bed with a movie or Supernatural... either one.

so.... today sucked.  out.  loud.  like, hardcore.

i had a soc110 (cultural anthropology) this morning... totally missed three-days worth of notes for it.  also completely pulled random answers out of thin air for the short answer section.  also?  had a chem quiz today that i for some reason had no fucking clue about.  and because of that?  no calculator.  we're studying stoichiometry.  i did most of the math long-hand, like the mass of the elements and compounds in grams, but then when it came to doing all the math at the end of the problem?  yeah, i guesstimated.  work wasn't too terrible, thank god.  other than the bio prep room being ungodly hot (like normal), there actually wasn't much to do except sit around and wait for the TSA and LB broth to finish mixing and for the autoclave to finish... autoclaving.  and chris (my friend) is sick.  i'm really hoping i didn't catch whatever he's got.  because that would suck.

on another note... Supernatural...  KRIPKE, WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!  awoeivhaoeihgiowhnebkdmcoejgfoirjfidojoaiwefgiuhifdj......   REALLY??  but honestly, though?  clueless!Castiel was so adorable!!   poor guy... i feel bad he's hanging out with dean!  that man'll corrupt the poor guy!

me
hmmm.... am just thinking that perhaps i will start posting some of my writing on LJ.  but maybe creating a writing only journal?  am not sure how i want to do that yet.  i have quite a few fanfics that i've been working on for a long time, and none of them are finished yet.  i take it back, i am actually on the last chapter of one of my covenant stories, which is a first.  anyway (if anyone is actually interested) i think i posted the links to my posted stories in an earlier entry...  i take it back, i'm positive i posted links in an earlier entry.  there are a few fandoms that i'm currenty writing for...

--dog: the bounty hunter -
show summary... )

--the covenant -
summary... )

--sky high - summary... )

--supernatural -
show summary... )

i also have a few stories for lord of the rings and pirates of the caribbean but those won't be posted until i do some major re-working on them.  those were stories written when i first got into writing so they really kind of suck.

am also thinking of possibly writing an actual book.  it was inspired when i came up with a new story idea for supernatural, where my main character is actually going to write a book about her life.  i'm sure i'll have more for it once i get the fanfic going.  so far i've gotten some good feedback on the part that i do have written.  it's the ending of the book but it doesn't really give anything away, i've always been better at endings.  i'll post it below, you can read it if you want.

original story ending... )
and that's all i have for right now... might be back later.

Who is/was your favorite teacher in school?

View 517 Answers

my favorite teacher in school?  hmm, not sure where to begin...

well, in elementary school it was miss kaiser, my fifth grade teacher.  she was awesome, we had pizza parties and holiday parties and since we were out in the trailer with one of the other fifth grade classes (it was temporary, they were remodeling the school), we had fun contests every so often.  she taught us how to use checks by having us earn 'money' through little tasks we were assigned throughout the week and then when we had 'market days' we were able to buy passes that let us do certain things whenever we wanted to use them.  there were passes that let you bring candy or soda into the classroom, you could sit at the teacher's desk for the day, teacher's assistant, free homework pass, free quiz pass, and my favorite was the jackie chan pass.  jackie chan was our class hamster and you could have him sitting at your desk with you for the day.  it was a lot of fun.  after i 'graduated' and was heading on to middle school, she called me during the summer, because i was nervous about the transition to a new school.

in middle school it was mr. grubbs, hands down.  mr. grubbs was my 6th grade language arts and reading teacher.  he was a younger teacher, like miss kaiser, and he was just so energetic!  we had this thing in 6th grade that because it was a new experience for us we would spend the last hour of the day on tuesdays and thursdays with our language arts teacher so i had him four hours on some days.  he was such an amazing guy all around, not to mention some of us had crushes on him, lol.  fridays he would always do a handstand the last 10 seconds of class, and we always tried to get him to go longer and longer to see how long he could hold one.  it was great.  and when i got sick and was in the hospital, he got all the kids in my class to make a 'get well soon' card and always pulled me aside at the end of the week to ask how i was doing.  even before i had gotten real sick he noticed something wasn't quite right with me and always made sure to ask if i was okay.  he was such a great teacher.  and i know the school is huge and he sees hundreds upon hundreds of kids every year but i went back my freshman year of high school to visit (that's three years after i had last seen him) and he still recognized me.  i changed a lot from 6th grade to freshman year.

my favorite teacher from high school...well i have two because i went to two different high schools.  from PR it's miss linde, hands down.  she was a younger teacher, again, so i think she still remembered what it was like to be in high school and be a freshman.  she was my english teacher, which is one of my favorite subjects because i ADORE reading and writing.  we had a poetry session, which didn't really turn out the way i liked because around the time we started it i found out we were moving, so most of it was pretty dark.  but i loved the way she had us do book reports and the way she taught through the books we read, romeo and juliet especially.  a few of the other times my english teachers did shakespeare they read a paragraph and then had us translate it into modern english.  it was really slow and teadious.  miss linde did kind of a word search, where she had the definitions and we had to fine the words, or she'd do crosswords the same way and then read through the passages.

from AHS, it's mr. blood.  no contest whatsoever.  blood was my homeroom teacher, which means i saw him every morning for three years in a row.  he was another fun-loving, down to earth, just an all around awesome person.  he was a bit odd, but i think that's what i liked most about him.  he really loved getting to know his students and treated them as equals if they earned that from him.  i felt very comfortable with him and i knew i could go to him for any reason and he'd try to help out if he could, or find a way to get me help.  some people didn't like the way he taught but i thought it was so much fun.  we'd start out on topic and then something would come up where he veered off-course for a little bit but then came back.  i liked it because then i could associate whatever we were learning with whatever little tangent he had gone on about.  he was also in charge of drama club, so i spent a hell of a lot more time with him than any of the other kids in the school.  we still keep in touch now that i'm at school and i visit him whenever i'm in town.  he takes an honest interest in what his students are doing and offers advice freely, letting you take it and do whatever you like with it.  he's a real mentor for me, and i'll never be able to fully express how grateful i am for his enthusiasm through my years at AHS.  he made an imprint on my life and i will forever be thankful to whatever powers that be that he so happened to have my section of my class for homeroom.

Writer's Block: The Right to Privacy

Should some parts of celebrities' lives be off-limits to the public, or is giving up privacy a fair price for being famous?

View 512 Answers

hmm... let's think about that for a second...

giving up privacy is so not a fair price to pay for being famous!  it's not even close to fair, not to mention against the constitution!  most celebrities are just doing what they love, acting and singing and it's unfortunate for them that people want to know the most intimate details about them.  people who make their own tv shows give up that privacy right all on their own, but there are those who just want to do what they do and be left alone.

i recently heard on the radio about some paparazzi climbing over the wall of george clooney's house in italy and snapped some pictures of a 13 YEAR OLD GIRL CHANGING IN HER BEDROOM!!  it's absurd that society has come to this that people will actually sneak into someone's yard and take disgusting pictures like that just to appease the american public.  it's disgusting and i feel terrible for the stars that this happens to.

so yes, some parts of celebrities lives should be off limits to the public, we all have our secrets and we all want certain parts of our lives kept a secret.  even though they are celebrities they're still human!!  and no, giving up one's privacy is NOT a fair price to pay for being famous.

holy shit...

well, i'm not even sure where to begin with today's well, i guess now it would be last night's adventure...

as you saw earlier i made my to do list which i managed to accomplish completely.  folded the laundry, ate some lunch, got directions to the campground, bought the ice and got myself lost out in the boonies while trying to find the campground.  actually ended up driving right past the entrance twice.  yay me.

after i FINALLY found the stupid road... )

and here's where the real fun begins... )</div>

will most definitely be coming back to add more to this...

but before i forget...

a mini 'to do' list for me today...
1. laundry from dryer
2.  eat lunch
3.  get directions to boulder lake
4.  buy ice (or Erin will kill me)
5.  attempt to not get lost while driving to boulder lake.

bestest friends are camping this weekend and alas i could not go.  stupid work.  seriously, who in their right mind would start printing papers at 4 in the morning and then call the stuffers (i.e. the people who manually put those paper ads in with the paper) at 4:30?  want to murder them....  anywho, so am so lacking in the sleep department and will need massive amounts of caffene or sugar to keep me going today.

also must remember to reaquaint myself with the sky high 'verse.  am stuck on story because i can not for the life of me remember what happens between will's first day of school and the fight with warren in the cafeteria.  is driving me insane.  must actually FINISH covenant story.. has been far too long in coming.  stupid love scenes...

saw this somewhere... thought it looked like fun.  actually describes my personality quite well.  not quite sure what a 'cthulu spawn' is... am on my way to look that up right now...

Which creature of the night are you?
Your Result: Werewolf

You are a vicious fighter and a vicious lover, absolutely dedicated to your pack. You are pushed to anger by disloyalty and injustice and have a tendency toward sudden, periodic bursts of wild behavior.

Sorceror

Vampire

Incubus/Succubus

Cthulu Spawn

Demon

Ghost

am also currently putting together a movie list.  kind of like a bucket list of things to do, but for movies i'd like to see before i die.  or at least sometime in the near future.  hopefully will have that up soon, i don't want to spend all day putting together a list of movies.  also need to remember to update my 'to read' list... have many books written down on random scraps of paper and it is making my purse a mess.  must fix that soon...

wow.... i really suck at updating this....

anywho....

i believe i owe someone a happy belated birthday??  i know i don't talk to many any of the people on my f-list but i do want to say HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY [info]moonstorm !!!!!!  my bad on getting this out late...  hope you had a wondrous day full of goodies and sugar and happiness!!

getting tutored for math since i had an EPIC!!fail of precalc last semester.  that's a boatload of fun (not).
although i am starting to understand it better than i did while taking the class because my professor was retarded couldn't teach to save his life.

haven't had to go up to grandma's in a while... v. nice to have a break from cutting/splitting wood.
and an insane old lady... *shakes head*
total EPIC!fail on my grandma's memory...

have successfully watched S1 of SPN, and am well on my way to having my sister watch all of it as well.
am also hesitant to watch the last two eppys of S2 of SPN... not really looking forward to what i've heard happens (won't say in case i'm spoiling it for someone...but i highly doubt that one)

will be going back to school in approximately 42 days... so not looking forward to that one.  in lieu of my EPIC!!fail last semester, class schedule for next year is going to seriously suck out loud.  i'm tecnically supposed to be on academic probation, which means i can only take 12 credits (3 classes) until  i raise my GPA about .25 points.  so not helping my get to hawaii.  in order to get to hawaii by my junior year (this coming school year will be my sophomore year in college), along with the classes i failed last year, i'd need to have 5 classes in the fall and 6 in the spring.  will be v. interesting once i talk things over with my advisor.

my friend from cali visited me over the weekend.  did not do much but was v. nice to see her.  have known her since forever because our dads grew up together.  gotta love small towns...
finally got a couple of movies i've been looking into getting:
--ever after (awesome take on Cinderella),
--a knight's tale (who doesn't love heath ledger?),
--the covenant (hot boys in speedos...what's not to love?)
v. upset that wally-world didn't have 10 things i hate about you... was looking forward to having that on DVD...

am hoping to see ice age again tonight if i can talk my mom into it... i've been begging her for about a week and a half.  have already seen it twice.  love it.

also trying to decide if i want to go see HP in theaters.  i know i'll see it eventually, but do not know whether i want to spend  the six bucks to see it in theaters or wait until i can rent it for only $1.

am super excited for Big Bang Theory tonight!!  also, Sky High is going to be playing on Disney Channel tonight!!  v. excited for that.

also want to say HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY to
[info]cyndrarae !!!  eat lots of goodies and don't work yourself too hard, m'dear!!

is all for the moment...

Found this somewhere and thought it looked fun.  For me, anyway

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.

2) Italicize those you intend to read.

3) Underline the books you LOVE.

4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

so.... yesterday was definitely not a good day in my world.  well, at least in the sport world.  my boys (the brewers) lost yesterday to the rockies.  so there goes our chance at taking the series.  hopefully we'll win tonight so we don't get swept.  i hate that even more than losing a series.

and my chicago white sox lost.  i grew up in chicago (hence my love of *most* things illinois/chicago) and since they're in the AL i figure it's okay for me to like them.

cubs lost, which is a good thing but the cards won, which is not a good thing.  we're only a game and a half in front of cincinnati and st. louis.

am also devastaed at the loss of rickie weeks.  i can only imagine the kind of scores we'd be getting if he was still playing.  not that i don't love the rest of the guys, don't get me wrong.  thanks fo FSN last night i found out that rickie is one of the leaders in HR's so far this season.  and considering he's been out for a few weeks already and is still one of the top hitters, that's saying something.  it's a shame, he would have had an amazing season if he hadn't gotten hurt.
